Congresgebouw, The Hague July 1977 concert poster

Large vintage original first printing concert poster advertising the NORTH SEA JAZZ FESTIVAL ’77 staged at the Congresgebouw in The Hague [Holland] from 15th to 17th July, 1977, presented by Paul Acket. This was the only second year of the festival, yet the line-up was hugely impressive and included Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Carmen McRae, Count Basie, Don Ellis, Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck, Max Roach, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Horace Silver, Stanley Clarke, Archie Sheep, Milt Jackson, Ray Brown, Art Blakey, Monty Alexander, Roy Eldridge, Muddy Waters, Big Joe Turner, Gary Burton, Kai Winding, Earl Hines, Alphonse Mouzon, and many, many more. The North Sea Jazz Festival was the brainchild of Dutch promoter Paul Acket. It was his intention to present a great diversity of jazz music to the public, from American jazz to European avant-garde. Although Acket died in 1992, the annual festival continued and is now acknowledged as the “biggest indoor jazz festival in the world”.

The poster is huge and measures 83.0 x 116.0 cm (approx.  32.7″ by 45.7″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Additional photos available on request.
