Concertgebouw, Amsterdam November 1952 concert program


Original vintage concert program for Louis Armstrong’s performance at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam [Holland] on Sunday, 2nd November, 1952, presented by Lou van Rees. In the fall of 1952, Armstrong embarked on a long tour of Europe with an All-Star ensemble that consisted of Trummy Young (trombone), Marty Napoleon (piano), Cozy Cole (drums), Bob McCracken (clarinet), Arvell Shaw (bass) and Velma Middleton (vocals). For the European tour Trummy Young had replaced Russ Phillips, while Bob McCracken and Arvell Shaw had replaced Barney Bigard and Dale Jones, respectively. Louis Armstrong stayed in Europe from the end of September 1952 through December. A number of concerts from the tour were broadcast. Original pictorial “Discotone” promotional flyer, laid in.

One sheet folded into four pages, 18.0 x 25.7 cm. All text in Dutch. Light age toning to extremities, else in excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Additional photos available on request.
