Salle Pleyel, Paris May 1959 concert poster (Gérard Jourdan)

Original vintage first printing concert poster advertising Norman Granz’ Jazz At The Philharmonic at the Salle Pleyel in Paris [France] on Friday, 22nd May, 1959. There were two concerts on the same night, which wasn’t unusual back then. Performing artists included the Gerry Mulligan Quartet, the Jimmy Giuffre Three, and the Gene Krupa Quartet. Mulligan’s quartet consisted of trumpeter Art Farmer, drummer Dave Bailey and bassist Bill Crow, while guitarist Jim Hall and bassist Buddy Clark were with Giuffre. Krupa’s group included saxophonist Eddie Wasserman, pianist Ronnie Ball and bassist Jimmy Gannon. The poster features striking artwork by Gérard Jourdan, with the artist’s imprint to the center of the right side border.

The poster measures 37.5 x 60.0 cm (approx. 14.8″ by 23.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. There is a faint horizontal fold to the middle and a tiny pin hole to each corner, else in excellent unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
