Kongresshalle, Frankfurt February 1955 concert poster (Michel+Kieser)
Original vintage first printing concert poster advertising Norman Granz’s Jazz At The Philharmonic at the Kongresshalle in Frankfurt [Germany] on Sunday, 13th February, 1955. The concert in Frankfurt was part of the fourth European JATP tour and featured Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, Flip Phillips, Buddy de Franco, Bill Harris, Louie Bellson, Ray Brown, Herb Ellis, and Don Abney. The poster features spectacular uncredited artwork by graphic duo Hans Michel and Günther Kieser.
The poster measures 84.0 x 60.6 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.8″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. The poster would clearly benefit from professional restoration. It has been folded thrice with a closed one inch tear to the bottom right corner.
