1953 French “Disques Vogue” promo handbill
Vintage original double-sided first printing promotional handbill issued in 1953 by French record label Disques Vogue to promote releases by American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, composer, and singer Dizzy Gillespie (1917—1993), primarily Dizzy Gillespie Plays in Paris, which was recorded at Studio Jouvenet, Paris and Schola Cantorum, Paris on 27th March and 11th April, 1952, respectively. Dizzy was accompanied by Hubert Fol (alto sax), Joe Benjamin (bass), Pierre Michelot (bass), Humberto Canto (congas), Bill Clark (drums), Pierre Lemarchand (drums), Arnold Ross (piano), Raymond Fol (piano), Bill Tamper (trombone), and Don Byas (tenor sax).
The handbill measures 9.0 x 21.0 cm (approx. 3.5″ by 8.3″ inches) and is beautifully printed in light blue and black inks on thin, uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition.
