Philharmonie am Gasteig, Munich July 1988 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz musician, trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Miles Davis (1926–1991) at the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich [Germany] on Sunday, 10th July, 1988, as part of the “Münchner Klaviersommer”, and presented by Konzertagentur LOFT. At the time, Miles’ band comprised of  Kenny Garrett (as); Robert Irving III (keyboards); Adam Holzman (keyboards); Joe “Foley” McCreary (lead bass); Benny Reitveld (bass); Ricky Wellman (drums); Marilyn Mazur (percussion). Mazur had originally joined Miles’s band in 1985 and left the following year. She re-joined in spring 1988. This was also Irving’s last European tour with Miles, after playing with Miles for more than five years, he would leave in October 1988. The concert was recorded by German TV and is available on DVD. The “Münchner Klaviersommer” was a jazz and classical music festival in Munich that ran from 1981 to 2006. The concert series was initiated by Friedrich Gulda in 1981 with the idea of ​​combining jazz and classical music and mutually stimulating them. Gulda himself was not only a classical pianist, but also played jazz. At first only pianists were guests, later the spectrum expanded to include all kinds of instruments, groups and orchestras.

The poster measures 59.4 x 84.1 cm (approx. 23.4″ by 33.1″ inches) and is beautifully printed in green, red and black inks on thin coated paper stock.
