Kurzaal, Scheveningen & Concertgebouw, Amsterdam March 1960 concert program

Original vintage concert program for American jazz pianist, organist, bandleader, and composer Count Basie’s two performances at the Kurzaal in Scheveningen and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on Saturday, 26th March, 1960, presented by Lou van Rees. By the start of the 1960s, Basie was hugely popular in Europe and two concerts on the same day weren’t unusual. Basie’s orchesra for the European tour featured Joe Newman, Snooky Young, Thad Jones, George Cohn (trumpets); Benny Powell, Al Grey, Henry Coker (trombones); Frank Wess, Marshall Royal, Billy Mitchell, Frank Foster, Charlie Fowlkes (saxophones); Freddie Green (guitar); Eddie Jones (bass); Sonny Payne (drums); and singer Joe Williams. A couple of concerts from this European tour, Paris (29th March) and Milan (6th April) were recorded and subsequently released.

One sheet folded into four pages, 18.0 x 25.8 cm. All text in Dutch. Very light age toning to extremities, else in excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Additional images of the program available on request.
